Personal Video Disk (PVD) (2003 – 2006)

Personal Video Disc (PVD)Personal Video Discs (PVDs) were an optical video disc format introduced by Hasbro in 2003 for use in their VideoNow system, a video system aimed at children.

VideoNow originally showed only grayscale video, but VideoNow Colour was introduced in 2004.

PVDs were initially about 85 mm in diameter for the grayscale version, and this increased to 107 mm for the colour version, with a capacity of 450 MB of data (30 minutes of video).

Most discs are prerecorded, but it was possible to get blank PVDs to use with the Hasbro VideoNow Media Wizard.

It is possible to record to CD-Rs using special software, and then cut the CD-Rs to the correct size to play in a VideoNow system.

It was discontinued by 2006.
