Happy Meals were introduced for children by McDonald’s in 1979, and have usually included a toy of some description, including several types of music player. In 2011, a new range of music player toys was introduced with six different songs (by Black Eyed Peas, Beyoncé, Pixie Lott, Chipmunk ft. Dayo Olatunji, Jason Derulo, and The Saturdays) in different colours to collect.
Each music player contained around just one minute of a single song. The player was styled like some kind of iPod dock, but the part containing the picture of the artist did not contain the music and inserting it into the ‘dock’ merely caused a notch to start the song and flash a light. There is no volume control, and the poor sound quality was reminiscent of HitClips.
This appears to have been the last type of music player included in Happy Meals.
